Looking for online tutoring that fits your student’s schoolwork and your family’s schedule? Lafayette Academy offers tutoring via Zoom for almost all subjects and grade levels, depending on tutor availability. This guide explains what to ask, what to prepare, and how to request a session.

Start with the subject and the specific challenge

Before requesting a tutor, write down your student’s grade, course name and the topic that needs attention. “Help with Algebra 2 functions” gives the office more useful information than “math help.” For reading or writing, describe the assignment and where your student gets stuck.

You do not need to diagnose the problem yourself. A recent assignment, teacher feedback or a list of questions can provide a starting point. Tell the office whether you are looking for help with current coursework, preparation for an upcoming assessment or ongoing support.

How online tutoring works at Lafayette Academy

Online sessions take place through Zoom. Subject coverage and appointment times depend on tutor availability, so the office should confirm the right match before you make plans around a particular time.

Standard private tutoring sessions are 55 minutes. Contact the office for the current rate and any program-specific pricing before enrolling; SAT and ACT preparation have their own options. You can explore our tutoring programs and SAT private tutoring information to help explain what you need.

What to include in your tutoring request

  • Your name and the best email address or phone number for a reply.
  • Your student’s grade, school and subject or course.
  • A short description of the support you are seeking.
  • Your preferred days and times, including your time zone if you are outside the Lafayette area.
  • A note that you would like online tutoring through Zoom.

Use the Tutor Request Form or email info@lafayetteacademy.com. The office follows up about availability and enrollment. Sending a request does not automatically reserve an appointment.

Prepare for the first Zoom session

Choose a quiet place with a stable internet connection and a device that can run Zoom. Check the microphone and camera before the appointment. Have class notes, the assignment and any materials the office asks you to bring ready to use.

Write down two or three questions in advance. For example: “I can start this problem, but I do not know which step comes next.” Specific questions give the session a clear starting point. Ask the office how to share worksheets or other materials with the tutor.

New inquiries and existing family accounts

The request form lets the office learn what a new student needs. Existing families also use Mindbody for account management, appointments and cancellations. If you already have an account, check with the office before creating another one.

For current contact details, office hours and the family-account link, visit our Resources & FAQs page. Office hours and tutoring-session times are different; confirm the time of your appointment directly.
